Meet Our Team

Chief Executive Officer / Laboratory Director

Sarah Jacobs-Helber, PhD, HCLD (ABB), is the Chief Executive Officer and Laboratory Director of SunVista Diagnostics, with more than 20 years of experience in molecular diagnostics and clinical laboratory operations. She specializes in next-generation sequencing (NGS), pharmacogenomics, infectious disease, and women’s health testing, and has built her career around helping laboratories grow while staying fully compliant with CLIA, CAP, CLEP, and COLA requirements.

Throughout her career, Dr. Jacobs-Helber has led laboratories in a wide range of settings—from start-ups to high-volume testing environments. She has built labs from the ground up, guiding everything from instrument selection and validation strategy to workflow design and accreditation, always with a focus on efficiency, quality, and real-world clinical impact.

Today, she provides laboratory director oversight and technical guidance across multiple sites, supporting assay development, validation, and quality systems. She has experience reviewing and releasing complex molecular results, including NGS-based germline and preimplantation genetic testing (PGT-A and PGT-M), with a strong focus on data quality, interpretation, and consistency.

Previously, she served as Chief Laboratory Officer and Laboratory Director for large-scale operations, where she led high-volume testing programs—including a COVID-19 initiative that delivered more than 10 million results. She has also overseen the validation and launch of advanced molecular assays, including large gene panels, and built quality systems that support reliable, scalable testing.

Dr. Jacobs-Helber holds a PhD in Microbiology/Immunology and is a board-certified High-Complexity Laboratory Director (ABB), with New York State Certificates of Qualification across multiple disciplines. She is also licensed in Florida and approved by AABB for parentage testing.

At SunVista, she combines deep scientific expertise with a practical, hands-on approach to ensure testing is accurate, dependable, and meaningful for both providers and patients.
